Action for Children offers a range of services and products to help improve pupil wellbeing and achievement, and increase pupil/parental engagement in learning. This includes direct 1:1 and group work with pupils on wellbeing, attendance, learning, behaviour, skills development and employability. We also provide family support services beyond the school gate and outside of school hours. This helps to tackle barriers to attainment, recognising that 80% of the influence in pupil attainment depends on family and home factors. In addition, we offer Evidence Based Programmes with proven impact and outcomes e.g. Roots of Empathy, a social and emotional wellbeing programme, and the Blues Programme, a group based early intervention to prevent symptoms of anxiety and depression. Our offers directly match Education Scotland’s Interventions for Equity Framework, identified as having best impact in raising attainment. We use outcomes-based reporting methods to measure and quantify our contribution to School Improvement Plans.
